Following a car accident, what could be causing my issues with swallowing?

Question by : Following a car accident, what could be causing my issues with swallowing?
My car accident entailed me taking a left turn and getting t-boned on the right side of my car, causing me to hit my head and sustain injuries from the seatbelt. I had some bruising on my stomach and severe pain over the right side of my chest (I am a woman). The paramedics took my blood pressure and told me to go home, when two weeks later I experienced a cracking sound near the centre of my sternum, mid chest. After this, I began to experience the following symptoms. A chest x-ray has also shown a small amount of air between the two of my lungs. The symptoms I feel are as following:

- I cannot swallow anything solid, if I attempt to it feels as if it is getting stuck or I have to force it down, causing me pain

- I find that acid reflux is also drying out my throat, for which I do not know the source or why it is occuring

- When I eat and food goes down, I feel some pressure on my chest

- There is a strange clicking sound in my throat

This has all been going on for three months now

I would appreciate any insight you may have, thank-you.

If Contraception is ONLY about pregnancy, why are so many Lesbians & Non-Sexually Active women on it?

Question by Knee-Jerk Reactions Are Pathetic: If Contraception is ONLY about pregnancy, why are so many Lesbians & Non-Sexually Active women on it?
Could it possibly be because Hormonal Contraception is a Medication on par with High Blood Pressure Medication or Pain Medication for MANY MANY different diseases and disorders?

Why are people refusing to talk about Contraception in any term but as BIRTH CONTROL and SEX?
Why is there no religious stance on Viagra?
Why is there no religious stance on Chemo?
Why is there no religious stance on Insulin?

These all alter Reproduction and Sex… Viagra is used recreationally for Sex Outside of Marriage yet the Catholic Schools and Hospital’s Health Care Plans cover Erection Disfunction Medications but not the MEDICATION that treats Endometriosis, Polycystic Ovarian Disease, Benin Breast Disease, Acne, Cycle Regulation, etc. etc. etc.
Contraception is a treatment to women with such things as:

Dysfunctional uterine bleeding,
Persistent anovulation,
Premature ovarian failure,
Pelvic pain (including secondary dysmenorrhea),
Mittelschmerz,
The control of bleeding in women with blood dyscrasias,
Premenstrual dysphonic disorder (pmdd),
Polycystic ovary syndrome (pcos),
Including improvement in bleeding patterns,
A reduction in acne and hirsutism,
Pelvic inflammatory disease (pid),
Endometriosis,
Severe and oftentimes debilitating monthly cramping,
Functional ovarian cysts,
Regulation of menstrual periods,
Ectopic pregnancy,
Dysmenorrheal,
Menorrhagia,
Benign breast disease,
Treatment for acne vulgaris,
Iron-deficiency anemia,

And also appears to prevent osteopenia in hypoestrogenic women. Not to mention the lessening of risk for a number of cancers including protection against endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, and cancer of the lining of the uterus, cutting the risk by more than HALF!

Could I have had instances of stable angina?

Question by : Could I have had instances of stable angina?
I’m 29 years old now. I’d consider myself of moderate fitness level, engaging in martial arts and casual trail running, up to and around half marathon distances. In the past (from about my teens), on I’d say less than a handful of times, I’ve experienced some of the symptoms below, and I wonder if these might have been instances of stable angina. Symptoms were incredible fatigue, some deliriousness, tightness or pressure with some discomfort in left arm (on one occasion), and nausea (but this mainly swimming, which I’m not strong at). The fatigue was something profound, as I’d never experienced that before. Note that this mainly happened on occasions of extreme exertion, I think sprint cycling. My heart rate would have been exploding and breathing quite hard. I have tried to run at above 90% with running but don’t hold it that long, and I can run for hours without any issues.

[Quote from another post]

Angina pectoris is a clinical syndrome of precordial discomfort or pressure due to transient myocardial ischemia without infarction. It is typically precipitated by exertion or psychologic stress and relieved by rest or sublingual nitroglycerin. Diagnosis is by symptoms, ECG, and myocardial imaging. Treatment may include nitrates, β-blockers, Ca channel blockers, and coronary angioplasty or coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
The most common symptom is chest pain that occurs behind the breastbone or slightly to the left of it. It may feel like tightness, heavy pressure, squeezing, or crushing pain. The pain may spread to the:
* Arm
* Back
* Jaw
* Neck
* Shoulder
Some people say the pain feels like gas or indigestion.
The pain typically:
* Occurs after activity, stress, or exertion
* Lasts an average of 1 – 15 minutes
* Is usually relieved with rest or a medicine called nitroglycerin
Angina attacks can occur at any time during the day, but most occur between 6 a.m. and noon.
Other symptoms of angina include:
* A feeling of indigestion or heartburn
* Dizziness or light-headedness
* Nausea, vomiting, and cold sweats
* Palpitations
* Shortness of breath
* Unexplained tiredness after activity (more common in women)
It may cause mental depression in some patients.

Q&A: I have extreme anxiety about HIV?

Question by tomdawg ツ: I have extreme anxiety about HIV?
I had unprotected vaginal and anal sex with a woman at a party I was at about 7 months ago. About three weeks ago I went to a youth group concert/lecture at a friend’s church and they talked about HIV and how it is not just a “gay disease”, it’s possible for it to be spread from women to men. This freaked me out and I began experiencing extreme symptoms of anxiety…I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night because I would be so worried I had HIV. I would stay up reading every single website that came up on Google search for symptoms of HIV. It was on my mind every single day for a good part of the day. I finally got the courage to go get tested and the test came out negative. Even though the test was negative and the tester said that I am out of the window period, I am still so anxious about HIV. I have been refraining from having any sexual experiences with my girlfriend, even safe sex with a condom. I know I am clean but I can just not get this out of my head. My family is very religious and if they knew I had these fears and that I had unprotected sex they would literally disown me. I need to know how to quit having these irrational fears because I cannot live my life like this. I don’t know how to see a therapist without my parents finding out.

Best answer:

Answer by HIVRN
If you are out of the window period and the test came back negative, then you do not have HIV. The speaker at the youth event is right. HIV is not just a gay disease. It is spread from heterosexual contact. I work with HIV patients every day. Most are gay, but a lot contracted HIV from Heterosexual contact and/or IV drug use. The tests that are available now are a lot better compared to those 5 years ago. The window period is 3 months. You can relax. However, hooking up with people at parties is a good way to get HIV. Many people have HIV and don’t know it. Also, there are some people that know they have HIV and try to spread it. This is illegal, but they still do it. Be careful.

What are some symptoms of getting off the pill?? Help! I’m having the worst time!!?

Question by Megan: What are some symptoms of getting off the pill?? Help! I’m having the worst time!!?
Because i’ve been having all the symptoms of pregnancy for the past two months. I only took the pill for 2 months, the 1st with no symptoms AT ALL, but i had sex during this time (knowing the pill doesn’t work for the 1st month). Eventually though, all the symptoms of pregnancy started hitting me. But i had 3 negative at home tests (low grade ones). I’ve had 2 periods since then too but the 1st very light and the 2nd all spotting.
If i were pregnant, i think i would be 10 weeks. But all this makes me doubt it. Still, it’s been 3 1/2 weeks OFF the pill and i still feel bloated ALL THE TIME, and nothing seems to help. Plus nausia, especially when i don’t eat, heartburn, my breasts are still larger then normal, and a lot more back and neck aches. Most of all I feel TIRED. (mono?) i even have a random runny nose with no other symptoms that apparently happens to pregnant women but it could be another coincidence.

Anybody have this much trouble getting off the pill???
right, i’m set to see a doctor later this week.
i’ve been told i could have been given too high a dose, but my mom had no trouble on the pill
